PENFIELD, NY – A word to the wise: don’t leave your purse or backpack unattended in your shopping cart. (I’ve done this more times than I can count; an employee of the Pittsford Wegmans once scolded me for doing so, which got my back up. My bad.)
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department reports that a customer at the Penfield Wegmans had her wallet stolen on July 15. Her credit cards were later used at Best Buy and Target.
WEST SENECA, NY – A 42-year-old woman kept police busy on Friday, July 24. She and a companion allegedly shoplifted more than $600 from Wegmans, according to WGRZ.
As they were trying to make their getaway, their car stalled. The good Samaritan who helped them start the vehicle was rewarded by the purported thieves banging into their car and driving off.
Police arrested the two and charged them with petit larceny. Yet within minutes of their release, the woman was accused of breaking into cars and stealing cash, credit cards, prescription narcotics and other items.
She was charged a second time and released.
HANOVER, NJ – Good Samaritans abound in Wegmans parking lots. On July 5, a shopper noticed two small children crying in a vehicle outside the Hanover Wegmans.
Temperatures reached the 90s that day, which meant they could have exceeded 100 inside the vehicle, NJ.com reports. The boy and girl, ages 6 and 4, were left in the car for 45 minutes.
Hanover police arrested the father when he exited the store and turned the children over to their mother.
