Inevitably, our being cooped up in the house for months has led us to new methods of communication.
Not just Zoom. I’m talking about front yards.
Signs are popping up everywhere. Of course, Black Lives Matter and political campaign signs are plentiful, along with the “Congratulations to the Class of 2020” banners.
But there’s so much more. Driving around today, I passed signs that thanked essential workers and reminded people to social distance. One said, “Love Trumps hate.” Another urged, “Love thy neighbor.”
“No new normal,” said one sign, with a tagline too small to read as I drove by. “Hate has no home here,” declared another.
Some, such as the one above, covered all the bases.
But this figure dressed in a cap and gown, bearing a message painted on a garbage can lid, was my favorite:
