Wegmans again cuts hours

Wegmans has announced another temporary curtailment of shopping hours.

All stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Update: Beginning March 20, the Brooklyn and New Jersey stores will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

The company has also temporarily closed:

Market Café seating areas
In-store Pubs
Select Burger Bars
Amore
Next Door

As a customer and former employee, I’ve long had Wegmania.

I launched Wegmaniacal in December 2019, to examine the cultlike following the company has in New York and other eastern states.

Then the coronavirus took over. Not long after, George Floyd was murdered. Most of the news posted here in recent weeks has concerned the company’s response to both.

The health and safety of employees and customers is obviously a prime issue. So is divestment from cities such as Rochester, NY, corporate headquarters for Wegmans.

As the company has been surprisingly reticent on both topics, Wegmaniacal has evolved into an effort to provide a fair and accurate account of what’s going on.

I can’t wait to write about other stuff.
