Food I don’t feel good about

Posted on February 5, 2020February 5, 2020 by Wegmaniacal

If only I could learn to like cauliflower. I have a feeling a whole new culinary world would open up.

But if I want rice, I’ll make rice. And if I yearn for pizza, there’s no way in hell I’m opting for a cauliflower crust.

As for roasted vegetables, there’s nothing better than charred broccoli with a sprinkling of curry powder.

All those food posts telling me I’m wrong in hating the white stalks that look like dead things. They don’t mention the smell, which is worse than cabbage, or the texture, which is like sawdust.

With all the tantalizing veggies out there, why force myself to eat something so repulsive? So just shaddup about cauliflower, would you?

About This Site

Upstate New Yorkers love their Wegmans, with a bond that newer customers in other parts of the East are discovering. As a customer and former employee, I share the obsession.

I launched Wegmaniacal in December 2019, to examine the cultlike following the company has developed since its founding in Rochester more than a century ago.

The site stagnated when I left Wegmans and returned to other endeavors. But with rising grocery prices, lowering environmental regulation, and pharmaceutical challenges, it’s time to resume writing here.

Much of what I have to say is positive. Nevertheless, the company is family owned and most of its operations are conducted in private. As a longtime journalist, I’ll also delve into topics Danny Wegman would prefer to keep behind closed doors.
